Abstract: This park was born at the urban limit, with the aim of showing the possibilities of new urban green management models, and which will be completed over the years, slowly but continuously with great citizen involvement.

Un proyecto palanca / Flagship Project

Poder desarrollar el proyecto del parque de los Pinetons es uno de esos proyectos soñados, ya que se trata de un parque que se irá completando con los años, lentamente pero de manera continuada, hasta alcanzar las 18 ha previstas.

Being able to develop the Pinetons Park project is one of those dream projects, as it is a park that will be completed over the years, slowly but steadily, until it reaches the planned 18 hectares.

El crecimiento urbanístico amenazaba con seguir engulliendo un vasto territorio agrícola justo en el límite urbano. Son espacios que parecen predestinado a convertirse en lugares marginales donde se acumulan desechos, pero en realidad son espacios de grandes oportunidades.

The city’s expansion threatened to continue engulfing a vast agricultural area right on the urban edge. These spaces seem destined to become places where waste accumulates and activities of little value occur, yet they also represent significant opportunities.

El lugar, escenifica la puerta de entrada al Espacio Natural de Gallecs y forma un mosaico que combina un pequeño bosquecillo de pinos en la colina y antiguos campos de cultivo de cereal.

The site serves as the gateway to the Gallecs Natural Space and is a mosaic that combines a small pine forest on the hill with former cereal fields.

Potenciar ese carácter de mosaico y hacerlo compatible con un uso intensivo de los ciudadanos, fue la apuesta que permitió desarrollar un proyecto, que nació con voluntad de convertirse en impulsor de un nuevo modelo de gestión de los espacios verdes.

Enhancing that mosaic character and making it compatible with intensive public use was the goal that allowed for the development of a project aimed at becoming a catalyst for a new model of green space management.

La apuesta por una gestión a favor de los procesos naurales y de la biodiversidad, tiene aquí un espacio de oportunidades único.

Primeros pasos / First steps

Las primeras actuaciones, modestas pero sólidas y estratégicas, consistieron en crear una red de caminos y delimitar los campos de cultivo, las zonas de plantación de arbolado y bosquecillos.

The initial actions, modest yet solid and strategic, involved creating a network of pathways and delineating the fields, tree planting areas, and small woodlands.

Ya desde el inicio, para el desarrollo del parque resulto clave la colaboración con agricultores de la zona, para poder gestionar grandes superfícies con costes moderados.

From the outset, collaboration with local farmers was crucial for the park’s development, allowing for the management of large areas using low-cost agricultural techniques.

Mediante unos molinos de viento se extre agua del subsuelo, lo que permite crear unos pequeños humedales y diversificar ambientes, potenciando nuevos ecosistemas.

Using windmills, water is extracted from the groundwater, allowing for the creation of small wetlands and the diversification of environments, enhancing new ecosystems.

El objetivo consiste en crear las circunstancias ideales para permitir que los procesos naturales puedan empezar a avanzar, lentos pero seguros, manteniendo cada nuevo logro.

The goal is to create the ideal conditions to allow natural processes to begin advancing, slowly but steadily, while preserving each new achievement

Una floreciente Biodiversidad, empezó a instalarse y fue creciendo poco a poco a partir de la condiciones idóneas para su desarrollo.

A flourishing biodiversity began to establish itself and grew gradually from the ideal conditions for its development.

Desde entonces las distintas actuaciones de naturalización se han ido ejecutando de manera constante, siempre en busca de favorecer los nuevos hábitats y los pequeños ecosistemas.

Un modelo evolutivo / Evolutionary model

Tras más de 20 años en los que se han desarrollado distintas fases y se han ido implementando actuaciones año tras año, el parque dels Pinetons de Mollet es ya un espacio consolidado, en el que los distintos ecosistemas van afianzándose.

After more than 20 years, during which various phases have been developed and actions have been implemented year after year, Mollet’s Pinetons Park is now a well-established space where different ecosystems are becoming firmly established.

Con una rica vegetación y una fauna consolidada, se ha convertido en un gran espacio de intercambio de biodiversidad entre el ambiente rural y urbano.

With its rich vegetation and established fauna, it has become a significant space for biodiversity exchange between the rural and urban environments.

A la vez, los ciudadanos de Mollet del Vallès encuentran aquí, un espacio amable donde pasear, descansar, hacer deporte y sobretodo, conectar con la naturaleza.

At the same time, citizens of Mollet find here a welcoming space where they can walk, relax, exercise, and above all, connect with nature.

Además, cabe destacar la estrecha relación con el Hospital Comarcal, desde el cual se obtienen una grandes vistas panorámicas del Parc dels Pinetons.

Additionally, it is worth highlighting the close relationship with the Comarcal Hospital, from which there are impressive panoramic views of Parc dels Pinetons.

Su fachada de cristal favorece la relación de los pacientes y los visitantes con el entorno natural, mejorando su estancia y favoreciendo su recuperación.

Puerta de acceso al medio natural / Gateway to the natural environment

La situación del parque, justo en el límite del desarrollo urbano, permite a los ciudadanos salir andando de sus domicilios y adentrarse fácilmente en la naturaleza que envuelve la ciudad.

The park’s location, right on the edge of urban development, allows residents to easily walk from their homes and immerse themselves in the nature that surrounds the city.

Los Pinetons actúan así, a modo de pre-parque y acceso al principal exponente de la naturaleza de la ciudad: el Espacio Natural de Gallecs con 700 ha protegidas por sus valores ambientales y paisajísticos.

Pinetons thus function as a pre-park and access point to the city’s main natural feature: the Gallecs Natural Space, which encompasses 700 hectares protected for its environmental and scenic values.

Los caminos y la topografía se han trazado y modelado para mantener la continuidad visual con Gallecs, de manera que expliquen y muestren esta conexión.

The pathways and topography have been designed and shaped to maintain visual continuity with Gallecs, in order to illustrate and highlight this connection.

El carácter agroforestal del Parc dels Pinetons refuerza este mensaje unitario para que los ciudadanos perciban una perfecta integración de ambos espacios.

Un parque construido entre todos / A park built by everyone

El papel de la ciudadanía ha sido y es muy importante. Durante estos 20 años se ha llevado a cabo aquí la fiesta del árbol, una gran actividad popular que ha permitido replantar más de 5000 árboles y arbustos, que se han ido consolidando y hoy forman ya auténticos bosquecillos.

The role of the community has been and continues to be very important. Over these 20 years, the Tree Festival has been held here, a major public event that has allowed the planting of over 5,000 trees and shrubs, which have now become established and have grown into true woodlands

Gracias a ello el Parc dels Pinetons se ha convertido en un espacio clave para transmitir los valores de la Biodiversidad Urbana del municipio.

Pinetons Park is a key space for conveying the values of biodiversity. Periodically, events are organized to promote these values, and the festival, now called the Tree and Biodiversity Festival, continues to be celebrated annually.

Periódicamente se organizan jornadas para difundir sus valores y se sigue celebrando anualmente la fiesta, que ha pasado a llamarse del Árbol y la Biodiversidad.

Promoción y Educación Ambiental / Environmental Promotion and Education

Más allá de la plantación popular de árboles y arbustos, se organizan talleres y sesiones de reconocimiento de distintas especies de flora y fauna que habitan el parque.

Beyond the public planting of trees and shrubs, workshops and sessions are organized to identify the various species of flora and fauna that inhabit the park.

Actividades populares de seguimiento y limpeza de cajas nido y de liberación de fauna procedente de centros de recuperación, permiten a los más jóvenes, conocer mejor los valores ambientales de su entorno.

Monitoring and cleaning of nesting boxes, as well as the release of wildlife from rehabilitation centers, allow young people to better understand the environmental values of their surroundings

Con el inicio de un nuevo programa de visitas guiadas al parque, los Pinetons es un espacio clave para difundir la importancia de gestionar el verde urbano a favor de los procesos naturales y de la salud pública.

With the start of a new guided tour program for the park, Pinetons has become a key space for promoting the importance of managing urban green areas in favor of natural processes and public health.

Sin duda, el mayor conocimiento de estos valores es la clave para fomentar el respeto y la protección de estos espacios.
